Something broken, something confusing, or something missing — all three are worth an email.

Email chris.b.wilburn@outlook.com. Grove is built by one person, so a reply comes from a human and usually within a couple of days.

What to include

A bug is much easier to fix with three things: what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. A screenshot beats a description. If you know the build number, it is at the bottom of Settings.

Please don't send screenshots of blood results or anything else you would rather not have in an inbox — describe the shape of the problem instead and it will almost always be enough.

Back up your record

This is the most important thing on this page. Grove stores everything on your phone and nowhere else, which is what keeps it private — and it means a lost phone is a lost record unless you have an export.

In Settings, export your archive to a file and put it somewhere you trust. Grove can read that file back in and rebuild your history from it. Do it before you change phones, and every so often in between.

Things people hit first

A connection to Oura, Whoop or Strava won't complete

Each one needs a credential you fetch yourself, and Grove's Settings screen links straight to the exact page it comes from with a sentence saying what to copy. If a connection fails immediately, that credential is usually the reason. Reconnecting from the same screen is safe and loses nothing.

The coach isn't answering

The coach runs on an Anthropic API key you create and paste in yourself, under your own account. If it stops working, check the key is still valid in the Anthropic console — the link is in Settings. A key is only shown once when created, so if you've lost it, make a new one and paste that.

A recording stopped part-way through

iOS will end an app's location access if permission is set to anything less than “Always” while recording with the screen off. Check Grove's location setting in iOS Settings. Battery-saving modes can also cut a recording short on a long session.

A heart-rate strap won't pair

Grove talks to sensors directly over standard Bluetooth, so the strap must not already be connected to something else — another app, a bike computer, or a watch will hold it. Close or disconnect that first, then scan again.

Sleep or recovery is missing for a night

Grove reads what your ring or band already recorded; it can't create a night that the device didn't capture. If a night is missing in Oura's or Whoop's own app, it will be missing in Grove too.

Reporting something serious

If you find something that shows you wrong numbers — a total that doesn't add up, a figure attributed to the wrong day, anything about a blood result or a dose — please say so plainly and it will be treated as urgent. Grove gives guidance about training and food, and guidance built on a wrong number is worse than no guidance.

Grove is not medical advice

Grove is a record and a coach, not a clinician. It does not diagnose, and nothing it says is a substitute for advice from a doctor or a registered dietitian — particularly around blood results, blood pressure, medication or any prescribed compound. If something in your health worries you, speak to a professional rather than to an app.
